New: One Reuse Group, DIRECT on Your Site and RESELLER on Publishers
29th May 2026The problem: duplicate groups
If you run an ad network, the same seller accounts often need to appear differently depending on whose site they run on. On your own domain they are DIRECT. On the publisher domains you resell into, those same accounts must be RESELLER — with a MANAGERDOMAIN= line pointing back to you.
ads.txt Guru reuse groups already let you apply one set of records across many domains, but the relationship was fixed per record. So networks ended up maintaining two near-identical groups — one DIRECT, one RESELLER — and keeping them in sync by hand. Every account change had to be made twice, and the two drifted apart over time.
What is new: one group, per-domain relationship
A single reuse group can now render its records differently on each domain it is applied to. Two additions make this work, and both are opt-in — existing groups behave exactly as before until you change something.
- Group Manager Domain — set it once in your group's Settings to the domain that manages this inventory (for a network, your own domain).
- Per-domain Relationship — on the group's Domains tab, every domain gets a dropdown:
- Inherit – records render exactly as authored (the default, and how groups have always worked).
- Direct – every record is forced to DIRECT on that domain.
- Reseller – every record is forced to RESELLER, and your Manager Domain is added as a
MANAGERDOMAIN=line.
So the same group renders DIRECT on your own domain (Inherit or Direct) and RESELLER + MANAGERDOMAIN= on each publisher you resell into (Reseller) — all maintained in one place.
Already running two duplicate groups?
You can move across at your own pace. Switch each publisher from your old reseller group to the unified group in Reseller mode one domain at a time — the generated ads.txt is the same, so nothing your publishers serve changes during the switch. Once a domain is moved you can drop it from the old group.
Automating it
Both settings are available over the API, so agencies and networks can wire this into their onboarding. See group/edit for the manager domain and group/domain/relationship for the per-domain relationship mode.
